According to reports, Chelsea has included Maxence Lacroix and Sven Bormann in their shortlist for defensive transfer candidates.
Thomas Tuchel’s team is currently having problems with their defense, both on and off the pitch, in recent weeks.
Jules Quint
The European champions have not scored a goal in any of their six previous games. Off the pitch, four of their defenders will be released after the season: Andreas Christensen (Anton Rudiger), Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Chelsea has yet to sign a new agreement with any of these four clubs. However, they have until January 1, when they can agree on their contracts with foreign clubs.
They tried to sign Jules Quandt, Sevilla‘s football player, in the summer transfer window. However, Chelsea couldn’t get a deal done because the Spanish club was firm and demanded the full EUR80m release clause.
Chelsea on other options
ESPN reports that Chelsea is interested in Tuchel and that they have a “huge admirer”. Conde is also open for a move. However, the Blues are looking at other options in case they don’t reach their main target in January.
Sven Bormann, Lille FC’s defender, and Maxence Lacroix, Wolfsburg’s defender are two options that have attracted the Blues hierarchy’s attention.
Chelsea hopes to reach an agreement with Christensen on a long-term contract. Rudiger’s extension is less likely. Real Madrid is the preferred target, despite interest from Bayern Munich (PSG) and PSG.
The recently admitted that there is a huge gap between looking at players, and possibly getting them in the winter when he spoke about Chelsea’s chances to sign them in January.
For now, Tuchel will have to use the resources he has and try to get his team back on track.
