The Gunners’ highly-rated 19 year-old from Sao Paulo joined during the summer. He’s only played four games so far for Mikel Arteta, and the club is clearly slowly easing him in.
Fabrizio Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing on CaughtOffside’s Substack that he believes this is a standard approach for a young player. However, no decision has been made on whether he will be loaned out to the club in January. Romano,
, adds that Marquinhos has been impressing in training and Arsenal are happy with him. It remains to be seen if Arteta will decide that he can get more first-team play in the second half. Romano stated that Arsenal are still considering Marquinhos as a loan for January.
“It’s normal for Arsenal to talk about a new winger, but not to consider Marquinhos fully ready yet. He’s still very young, he only spent a few months in England, so he has to adapt, improve, and then be an important part of the team in the future.
“For certain they’re really happy Marquinhos’ approach also in training.”
Arsenal has done well in signing top young talent in recent times, especially with Edu’s connections to Brazil.
Marquinhos may be another great Gunners technical director, but AFC fans will need to wait a while before they see him more often.
