Romano says that Havertz didn’t leave Chelsea in the summer. This means that the 23-year old could get a little more time in west London. Romano wrote in his CaughtOffside column that he believed Havertz needed more time at Chelsea and suggested that he could play in a different position to help him. Romano stated that he was seeing many rumours, but nothing concrete has been made for Havertz.
“Also no negotiations for Havertz were held in the summer. It will be determined in 2023. This will also depend on who the new directors are.
“I believe he deserves more patience, and maybe to play in a different position.”
Although Havertz was primarily a false nine for Chelsea’s team, some of his best performances for Leverkusen were as a number ten. Graham Potter may want to think about how he could change Havertz’s role to get the best from him.
There is a talented player there, so Chelsea would be wise to find a way to fire him before making rash decisions to let him go.
