Portugal’s international footballer is set to be remembered as one of the greats of all time. Fabrizio Romeo believes there are still many more years ahead of him, even as he approaches his 38th year.
Romano wrote an exclusive column for CaughtOffside in which he paid tribute to Ronaldo and tried to choose his favorite moment from the veteran forward’s remarkable career. Romano praised Ronaldo’s achievement with the Portuguese national team at Euro 2016 and cited it as the highlight of his career. Romano wrote:
“There are too many Cristiano moments for me to choose one favorite.” If I had to choose one, it would be winning the Euros together with Portugal. I believe that winning a major trophy for his country, despite all the achievements he made at club level was an amazing achievement.
“He’s a legend in the game and I think he can score many more goals for at least another two or three years.” His professionalism was once more excellent, at a very difficult time for Manchester United.”
United supporters will be happy to see Ronaldo still being able make an impact for Erik ten Hag’s side, even if he hasn’t had many chances to play this season.
Yesterday’s winner at Goodison Park was scored by Ronaldo, a 37-year-old who showed his usual composure and quality. He surely deserves more opportunities this season.
