After Sadio Mane’s departure, Liverpool have signed Darwin Nunez as their most important signing of the summer. The Uruguayan international is a perfect addition to the team.
Some fans are concerned about the lack activity in other areas. The Merseyside giants must do everything they can to keep pace with Manchester City. Romano believes that Jurgen Klopp could benefit from a signing such as Nunes in the midfield.
“It’s quiet at Liverpool as many expected but I think I would still be in market for at least one additional signing,” Romano writes in Substack’s exclusive CaughtOffside column.
“Personallly, I’d sign a central midfielder. Jurgen Klopp was interested in Aurelien Tchouameni while he was at Monaco. There were some discussions about the deal but the player preferred Real Madrid.
: “I believe another midfielder could benefit Liverpool. A player like Matheus NUNES, a 23-year-old talented player from Sporting Lisbon would be a smart move.” However, Liverpool is a long-term thinker and they will likely invest in a midfielder by 2023.
