Chelsea
Chelsea likes Ajax’s Edson alvarez. They have done so for a while now. I know that Blues fans will be curious to know if they will attempt to sign him again in January. It’s possible but not guaranteed.
Chelsea has a new director. They will be deciding on priorities together with Graham Potter or Todd Boehly in November/December.
Alvarez remains highly rated and appreciated, but Ajax and his agents are not currently in discussions.
This will depend on whether Ajax is open to selling. It’s not a certain thing at this stage in the season.
N’Golo Kante is the Blues’ current defensive middlefielder. However, he will be out on contract at the end.
Reports have suggested that Barcelona wants to sign Kante (RMC Sport), however, I believe there is still no agreement between him and any other club. Although he is happy in London, negotiations with Chelsea are difficult so he could leave on a free transfer.
Barcelona is always kept informed about any potential free agents, Kante included. However, it’s still not an advanced negotiation. Crysencio Sommerville,
Leeds United
, was the hero of Leeds United’s victory against Liverpool.
Andrea Radrizzani, the club’s other members, believes he is a player with great potential.
Man United
Donny Van de Beek played against FC Sheriff this week. Ten Hag will need to be convinced that he should be part his plans.
United was approached by two clubs in August. They turned down all offers. The future of the midfielder is still uncertain.
Newcastle United
Eddie Howe is doing excellent work at Newcastle. The team is playing very well on the pitch. Off it, they have the same strategy: sign players, but only when they are 100% sure the player will be a good fit for the future.
Although nothing is certain, the Magpies are still looking for wingers in the January window. They will likely identify targets for the World Cup. It is also a priority to extend Bruno Guimaraes’ contract. Everyone loves him.
