After a poor start to the season, Chelsea’s manager for Brighton has been named the clear choice. Fabrizio Romano provided an update in his CaughtOffside column today.
Potter’s performance at Brighton has been impressive, and Romano gave insight into why Todd Boehly believes the Englishman is the best choice to replace Tuchel.
After a turbulent summer with disagreements over transfers, it’s obvious that things were not going well at Stamford Bridge between Tuchel and Boehly.
Romano believes that Chelsea made the right decision in parting company with Tuchel. However, it seems only a matter time before Potter is officially named as the successor to the German tactician.
Romano stated that there are still details to be worked out and then Graham Potter will take over as Chelsea’s manager. He said that the feeling was positive from Wednesday’s contact.
“Todd Boehly believes Potter is a manager who has a vision for the future and can make an immediate impact on the squad, but also have the ability to create the Chelsea identity in the next years.”
I believe that Tuchel was an excellent manager, but that Todd Boehly’s situation in the last days was very tense. This is why we couldn’t continue to work together.
“He probably had to take time to make an impression on a team that has changed a lot. But I believe it was necessary to do so because he is an excellent manager.
Chelsea supporters will be hopeful that Potter’s arrival will help to get the Boehly era back on track after things began to fall apart under Tuchel’s leadership, despite his incredible success in lifting the Champions League just over a decade ago.
