Fabrizio Romano, in his exclusive CaughtOffside column says Van de Beek’s current situation is ‘open’. Things could change depending on how the Dutch international plays under Erik ten Hag over the next months.
Van de Beek has not made the impact that many expected, despite his immense potential during his Eredivisie days.
It is surprising that Van de Beek hasn’t had more opportunities since Ten Hag became manager. The pair were good friends at Ajax a few decades ago.
Van de Beek was on loan to Everton for the second half last season, but didn’t make a significant impact there. So what is the future for the 25-year old?
“There is no decision about his future, as it all depends on Van de Beek’s next two months. Romano stated that he is certain that he wants to play, and that we must monitor the situation as it may change in January.
Romano said, “It’s an open market for January market, it all depends on if Ten Hag uses him more and if Donny feels happy with his role.”
