The 21 year-old was initially arrested in January. He has not been seen for Manchester club in the past ten months.
Greenwood, 21, was again arrested on Saturday. He was charged with attempted rape and assault, as well as engaging in coercive or controlling behaviour.
Greenwood was arrested at Manchester magistrates Court following the charge. A judge had denied his request for bail. He had already spent two nights in cells
. However, Judge John Potter granted Greenwood bail in a private hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester on Wednesday.
According the Guardian, Greenwood, a Man United footballer, is not permitted to speak with witnesses including the complainant and must live in Bowdon near Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
Greenwood will be released on Wednesday after spending four nights in prison.
Mason Greenwood is charged with one count of attempted rape. This allegedly occurred on 22 October 2021 and assault occasioning actual bodily injury in December 2021. According to the Guardian.
Greenwood is also accused of “repeatedly engaging in” coercive or controlling behaviour. This allegedly involved monitoring the complainant’s social media accounts as well as “making threats, derogatory comments toward her, amounting towards a serious effect on her”.
