The Reds had a disappointing season. They lost the CAF Champions League final to Wydad Casablanca and then lost the league title as well as the cup to arch-rivals Zamalek.
The club will finish below the top two league teams for the first time since 1992. However, they have qualified for the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib has made it clear to the fans that he will be overhauling the team. The Reds have reportedly signed the Ceramica Cleopatra duo Shadyhussein and Mostafa Mesi.
Jaloliddin Maharipov, a Saudi-Nassr giant, is the latest name that has been mentioned as a possible signing for the ten-times African champions.
According to Uzbek news outlet Sports.uz Masharipov and Al Ahly have reached a personal deal.
Masharipov (28), has been working at Saudi side Al-Nassr from January 2021. He joined them from Uzbek giants Pakhtakor, for a fee EUR1m.
This forward spent his first season as a loan player at UAE giants Shabab UAE, before returning to Saudi Arabia last year.
Masharipov played primarily as a left-winger and scored four goals as well as six assists in 26 games. He led the club to the semi finals of AFC Champions League, and a third-place finish in the league.
Masharipov also helped lift the UAE League Cup and UAE President’s Cup. He provided nine assists and only one goal in 19 games.
Masharipov has won four Uzbekistan Super Leagues, one with Pakhtakor, and one while on loan from Lokomotiv Tashkent.
Masharipov was also awarded three Uzbekistan Cups, one Uzkistan League, and was named Uzbek FA Player-of-the Year for 2020.
He represented his country 45 times, scoring ten goals and helping the White Wolves reach round one of the 2019 AFC Cup.
