Hamed was absent for several weeks as he travelled to Europe to undergo medical treatment.
This 33-year old has played 18 games in all competitions, inspiring Zamalek’s rise to the top of Egypt’s Premier League.
But, Mortada Mensour, the club president, confirmed that Hamed’s contract will not be extended and the midfielder will leave Zamalek after eight seasons. This follows recent controversy.
According Al-Riyadiyah’s report, Hamed has already made a decision on his next move. He will join Ittihad Jeddah next season in the Saudi Pro League.
According to the report, Hamed has signed a contract with Ittihad and will be joining their pre-season camp at Austria.
Ittihad has already made major moves in the transfer window, having appointed Nuno Espirito Sante, former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager and Tottenham Hotspur manager, as their head coach.
Ittihad are looking to make new signings. Experienced centre-back Ahmed Sharahili is also rumoured as a free transfer.
Hamed, who had moved from Smouha to Zamalek in 2014, has played in more than 280 games and helped the team win 10 trophies.
