Erik ten Hag is under pressure at Manchester United already…
Erik ten Hag’s body language on Sunday looked like a rabbit caught in headlights.
Saturday’s performance has demonstrated that Manchester United is not a quick fix. It is impossible to fix the largest football club in the world within two months. Manchester United is a case in point. Everyone needs to take a step back.
I believe they have some very good people in place. John Murtough, for instance, is a great guy with a lot experience. Darren Fletcher, another Manchester United expert, is another. Although I don’t know much about Richard Arnold, I can understand his meeting with fans to have a pint at the pub. He has a very important job. So go ahead and do it. Don’t sit with the fans in a pub. They are not the ones responsible for running the club. Their opinions are solely based on the results. For all the managers out there, Man United will continue to use ten Hag for their rebuild. It makes you wonder if they would have been better off bringing in a pair of experienced, safe hands during times of great change.
What really bugs me about ten Hag is his insistence on looking at former players from Ajax. Although managers love former players, being linked to almost all of Ajax’s first-team squad shows a lack of planning and a serious lack of management skills.
Being a football club doesn’t mean you have a long-term strategy. Manchester United is proving this more than any other team.
Although there is a lot of criticism regarding ten Hag’s decision to not start Cristiano Ronaldo against Brighton & Hove Albion, it is fair to say that the manager had no choice.
Right not to start Cristiano Ronaldo against Brighton…
Ronaldo is not 37 years old but he still missed the majority of his pre-season. So to start him in the first match of the new campaign was impossible. Ronaldo is not the only player who would suffer this fate.
It was unbelievable to me when I read recent reports that Manchester United had made a bid on Marko Arnautovic.
Manchester United’s Marko Arnautovic bid stinks of desperation…
Any club that does this kind of business cannot then say, “We have a long-term strategy in place.”
This one is so difficult to work out that it makes me feel terrible for the fans. Erling Haaland, one of their most formidable rivals, has signed for Manchester United. Manchester United is in the running to sign a 33-year-old ex-Stoke City player. He has also been shown to be a troublesome player.
It is a sign of desperateness.
It just stinks of desperation.
