The sale of the Goldstone Stadium in April 1997 left Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club homeless. They were also in danger of being relegated from the Football League. They have been promoted to the Premier League via Gillingham and a repurposed stadium for athletics. They were saved by a dedicated group of fans, who helped them succeed.
