Newcastle United didn’t have their first manager until January 1930. However, they had won the league four consecutively, the FA Cup twice, and been runners-up in the FA Cup four times before Frank Watt became club secretary. In 1969, the club won the European Fairs Cup. The black-and-white striped team is affectionately called “The Magpies” by its fans.
Fans
Newcastle United supporters have been more loyal than any other Premier League fans. This club city feels a special connection to its team, and this is evident more on the road. Newcastle fans, from local supporters to international supporters, are all part of the club’s spirit.
It’s not a film about football. It’s about the people who make modern football a reality, the people who create the atmosphere the world watches on TV. It was a long journey, with hours of travel, to see a team that almost never wins.
