Crystal Palace Football Club, a football club located in South London, England is currently playing in the English Premier League.
Crystal Palace was a lower-level team in its beginning years. In 1969, they were promoted to League One, the top division. Crystal Palace was promoted to the top league (the former League One and Premier League) for forty years. However, they were relegated to the second division following a maximum of four seasons. They were called a “lift” team.
Crystal Palace, which at the time was in the Championship, was taken over by financial difficulties in 2009-10. They were awarded ten points and finished in the bottom four. Crystal Palace was promoted to the Premier League after finishing fifth in the Championship. Crystal Palace finished in 11th position in the Premier League in 2013-14, maintaining their Premier League place and the club’s highest-ever Premier League position. This result saw Crystal Palace relegated early and finish in 10th, surpassing last season’s record, which was also the club’s highest Premier League position.
Crystal Palace is currently the Premier League’s only team to have a cheerleading team.
